Historical Background

Palace Belvedere has been the summer palace of the Rajas of Awagarh. Built more than a century ago by Raja Balwant Singh of Awagarh in 1897, the palace is an epitome of royal living. A century of family history still echoes in the walls of the palace and in the many relics and mementoes of that era in this heritage hotel that is run with all the graciousness of past royalty. It offers a panoramic view of the famous Naini Lake which finds mention in the Skanda Puranas as a place of meditation.
