Mysore is
located on the fringes of the Deccan Plateau, at the
height of 770 metres and enjoys mild, clement weather
all year round. It is 135 kilometres southwest of
Bengaloore, the capital of Karnataka. Not far from the
city are the River Cauvery, the Western Ghats and
sandalwood forests. The city is punctuated with little
hills, the most visited and memorable being the Chamundi
Hill atop which is the Chamundi Temple.
