Noor-us-Sabah
(meaning "the light of dawn") enjoys the
undisputed reputation of being one of the finest
residential palaces of Bhopal. It was initially built in
the 1920s as the residence for the eldest daughter of
H.H. Nawab Hamid Ulah Khan. Its décor, ambience and
hospitality are honed to please, it has every modern
amenity to offer, and moreover, it is stunningly
located, loftily perched on a hill and overlooking the
expansive and beautiful Bhopal lake and the regal
Vindhya hills. Within
the city and yet a world apart, it is perfectly placed
as a base for combing the streets of Bhopal, its
environs, and places of interest further away, and yet
acting as a haven of comfort and grace removed from the
bustle of the city. |

The
undulating seven hills, the large lakes and the
profusion of parks lend a relenting charm to urban
Bhopal. Two lakes, the Upper and Lower Lakes,
serve as a neat division between the old and new
urban sections of the city. The new is evenly
sprawled over the seven hills of Bhopal, while the
old is crowded and teeming with activity with
houses, shops and markets jostling for space
through narrow streets and alleyways.
Bhopal enjoys a fairly temperate climate through
the year except for a couple of months of summer
preceding the monsoons when temperatures can be
rather harsh.
