home

On the periphery of the acclaimed Bandhavgarh National Park, home to a rich variety of bird and animal life including the beleaguered tiger and a host of other endangered animals, is the Bandhavgarh Jungle Lodge. At walking distance from the entry gate into the Park, it is obviously a logical choice for those coming to visit the wildlife park but the Lodge has its own pleasures to offer as well. Developed on the lines of a Theme Indian Village, its rooms, cottages and houses have been built with a rustic touch with mud huts and thatched roofs and community 'village' areas like a common dining hall, a central flowered courtyard with swings and evening campfires, a meadow that is visited by deer at sunset, the walkways in the reserve

forest with myriad birds in the flourishing orchard, the Gole Ghar sit-out for private evening gatherings, that is also a hide-out for daylight observation and photography of birds and animals that frequent the waterholes. In the quiet of the starlit night, the bark of the deer, the howling of the jackal and the occasional roar of the tiger carries the reminder of the wild closer home. The Lodge is operational from October to June.

Accommodation

The Indian Village Theme of Bandhavgarh Jungle Lodge employs rustic touches in its decor, with its mud huts and thatched roofs in traditional village style. However, the rusticity in decor does not impinge on comfort and all these cosily furnished rooms have attached bathrooms with running hot and cold water and all amenities to be expected in a basic modern guest house lodging.

The common dining hall is often central to the activities and bonhomie of this lodge.

Very deliberately environment - friendly, the lodge uses a great deal of solar power to generate energy, for heating water and cooking, and converts its organic waste into fertiliser for its organic farming using wormy-composting.
